October 27th marks the start of CIMCA 2013

Cine-Teatro de Alcobaça

The 3rd International Chamber Music Competition “Cidade de Alcobaça” (CIMCA) starts next Sunday, October 27th, at Cine-Teatro de Alcobaça – João d’Oliva Monteiro, place where the Check-in will be made from 2:00 pm to 5:30 pm and the Draw of Eliminatory Round at 18:00 pm, marking the start of the event.

Among the participants, we have mostly groups and musicians coming from Portugal, Spain, Germany, France, Italy, Holland, Poland, Greece, Latvia, Lithuania, Russia and Japan, accounting 24 groups in the competition and having the presence of close to 70 musicians, divided between the two categories (Junior and Senior).

The winners in the Junior Category will receive a prize of € 2500 (sponsored by the Inatel Foundation) and the opportunity to perform in concerts at Cistermúsica – Alcobaça Music Festival (2014). For the Senior Category, the prize will be € 4000, also with concerts at Cistermúsica – Alcobaça Music Festival (2014), Stellenbosch International Chamber Music Festival (South Africa, 2014) and Centro Cultural de Belém (2014).

As for the members of the Jury, they are: António Rosa (President of the Jury and Artistic Director), Abel Pereira (Orquestra Sinfónica do Porto Casa da Música and ESMAE), Aníbal Lima (Academia Nacional Superior de Orquestra), Antonio Pompa-Baldi (Cleveland Institute of Music), Jean-François Lézé (Escola Profissional de Viana do Castelo) and Luiz Fernando Pérez Herrero (Escuela Superior Reina Sofia, Madrid).
