The Draw of Eliminatory Rounds highlighted the Opening Ceremony of 3rd International Chamber Music Competition “Cidade de Alcobaça” at Cine-Teatro de Alcobaça – João d’Oliva Monteiro

The 3rd International Chamber Music Competition “Cidade de Alcobaça” (CIMCA), welcomed yesterday, October 27th, at Cine-Teatro de Alcobaça – João d’Oliva Monteiro, the Draw of the Eliminatory Rounds, where representatives of all ensembles participated, in a day that was also marked by the Check-In (in the afternoon) of the several musicians present in the contest.

Among the ceremony speakers, we had the Artistic Director and President of the Jury, António Rosa, one of the main drivers of the project, the President of Alcobaça Band and Executive Director of Alcobaça Music Academy, Rui Morais, and João Ribeiro, the English translator at service and Technical Director.

Also in the audience were some members of the Competition’s Jury, including Abel Pereira (Orquestra Sinfónica do Porto Casa da Música and ESMAE), Aníbal Lima (Academia Nacional Superior de Orquestra), Antonio Pompa-Baldi (Cleveland Institute of Music), Jean-François Lézé (Escola Profissional de Viana do Castelo) and Luiz Fernando Pérez Herrero (Escuela Superior Reina Sofia, Madrid).

Accounting 24 ensembles in the competition, coming from countries such as Portugal, Spain, Germany, France, Italy, Holland, Poland, Greece, Latvia, Lithuania, Russia and Japan, comprising the presence of close to 70 musicians, divided between two categories (Junior and Senior), it was proceded, after several opening speeches,to  the Draw for the Eliminatory Rounds which dictated the performances order over the next few days.
